Frustrating catch 22!
I still need to do an externship (paying 4 credit hours to work 120 hours most likely unpaid) to complete my degree at a location I have to find with little or no help from my adviser (who every time I ask for a meeting for help simply asks me if I have a site). This makes it extremely hard to apply for the positions that sound interesting and I may well be qualified for. *sigh* Of course the whole working idea is a huge range of emotions in itself. I haven't worked out of the house for well over a decade.

Valentine's Day
I've got an awesome hubby. He is going out of town so he gave me my gift already. It is a mushy card and a 3 POUND (yikes!!!) Hershey's kiss. I've never seen so much chocolate before. Lol I think I'm going to cut it up in little pieces and take a bunch to school tomorrow and share it.

Looking forward...
...to the end of school! I'm tired of homework keeping me from writing. I'm also not looking forward to a huge project I have to do for one class. Oh well. I'll keep on and in less than a year I will have my Associate's. I do at least somewhat enjoy my transcription class. The teacher is a complete character. I think she is my favorite teacher even though I think she is probably one of the more disliked teachers overall. Speaking of transcription, I guess I should go work on my Neuro/Psych transcriptions. I'm looking forward to the next package--OB/GYN, but I can't start that until the previous one is finished.

Very sweet!
Went and bought a new desktop computer today. I'm having to use the computer *a whole lot* for my classes right now. More than I have ever in the past. I have tons of transcription to get done. My first assignment is 25 different dictations that I have to transcribe once, correct, then transcribe AGAIN from scratch. It is due in one week (next Friday). So far I have done 18 of the first draft. I still have to go back through a lot of it and look up many things and make corrections. Can you say busy?! Now I've got to install Office and then get my transcription program and foot pedal on here. I guess I'd better get to work.

Lesson in life--learned
I've known all along I have to back-up anything important--especially my stories--when I use a computer. Well, for some reason with my latest story I didn't listen to myself. I didn't back it all up and my laptop had strange encounters with inanimate objects which have resulted in a wiped harddrive.
I'm lucky--not only can I eventually recreate what I wrote, but also my daughter's fiance just bought himself a new harddrive for his laptop and is happy to give me his old one (and install it!). Meanwhile my daughter has loaned me her laptop. :)

Slow but sure
I'm going slowly but surely. Pain cuts in and out, sometimes worse than others. Having surgery is hard work!

Finals finished!
One more term is finished. Now I only have 2 terms to go (not including externships). It is getting kind of exciting being so near the end.
First, though, I have to get through next week. I'm excited and apprehensive all wrapped up...no, twined together. I've never experienced anything close to this before. I'm trying to prepare as much as I can.
Tomorrow I'm hoping to finish most of my Christmas shopping. Anything else my oldest daughter will have to get for me (or possibly hubby but he is out of the country until the 22nd save for this Sat-Tues which leaves little shopping time).
