Lesson in life--learned

I've known all along I have to back-up anything important--especially my stories--when I use a computer.  Well, for some reason with my latest story I didn't listen to myself.  I didn't back it all up and my laptop had strange encounters with inanimate objects which have resulted in a wiped harddrive.

I'm lucky--not only can I eventually recreate what I wrote, but also my daughter's fiance just bought himself a new harddrive for his laptop and is happy to give me his old one (and install it!).  Meanwhile my daughter has loaned me her laptop. :)

Slow but sure

I'm going slowly but surely.  Pain cuts in and out, sometimes worse than others.  Having surgery is hard work!

Finals finished!

One more term is finished.  Now I only have 2 terms to go (not including externships).  It is getting kind of exciting being so near the end.

First, though, I have to get through next week.  I'm excited and apprehensive all wrapped up...no, twined together.  I've never experienced anything close to this before.  I'm trying to prepare as much as I can.

Tomorrow I'm hoping to finish most of my Christmas shopping.  Anything else my oldest daughter will have to get for me (or possibly hubby but he is out of the country until the 22nd save for this Sat-Tues which leaves little shopping time).

Somewhat started....

I've at least started my Christmas shopping, and even have a package for each of my daughters under the tree.  I'm hoping to do the rest of my shopping Thursday.  So little time left now.  So far I've taken 2 1/2 finals, and have 2 1/2 finals to go.  The 1/2 is because one final is part online and part tomorrow in the classroom.  Now I need to grab my breakfast and dig back into my disease processes book.  That final is in less than 4 hours.  Transcription is tomorrow.  I guess I'd better get moving, huh?

Too much to do!

I've got just over a week to get everything accomplished I need to.  Including finals, Christmas shopping, cleaning, and trying to get more organized.  Plus I really want to finish my Emergency! story.

I had to write a short paper on my hobby.  I wrote it on writing Fanfiction, lol.  Primarily about Emergency! of course, but I touched on all the fandoms I've written.  It was only supposed to be 3 paragraphs but I've already done 4.  How would I fit this subject in anything less?!  I think I'm finished.  I could probably say much more but oh well.  I do have to say this was the easiest of all 3 writing assignments (and the first 2 weren't hard).

Life challenges at times....

This is definitely one of the times I am facing one of the challenges of life right now.

Surgery...might be fun for the surgeon, but I'm not particularly looking forward to it.  The end results (in time) yes, but the event and the recovery time after definitely not.  I'm trying very hard to stay focused on the end result.  My daughter's impending marriage next summer has spurred me to face this now (between fall/winter terms) rather than wait.  Ironically after I made the decision it was made much, much clearer to me it was physically necessary now too.  My biggest question is how much of a challenge am I going to make winter term classes for myself?  Only time is going to answer that one.

Small irritations

Really I suppose this is small on the scale of what could be, but it really irritates me when you have something happening that is known about since September but the people who are supposed to work at scheduling it for you don't do it until less than 4 weeks to go...and then end up with only half being able to be done because of their poor planning.

One final down...

and 4 to go.  One will be a cakewalk.  A second shouldn't be too bad, but the others are going to take a great deal of work.  Luckily I have everything done and turned in save for one small assignment that won't be too difficult.

I'm happy tonight because I've actually accomplished a bit on my Emergency! WIP.  I really want to finish this story in the next 2 weeks.  I'm even attempting to give it a Christmas theme of sorts to help motivate me.  It is the only story I've published and not finish as I really don't like publishing WIPs!

Got my text book for Transcription I today from a student who just finished it.  She just gave them to me. :)  That was wonderful.  She's also going to sell me her Accounting I book for a greatly reduced price.  This books makes me think it is going to be back again to lots and lots of medical terminology.  I really need to work on it again anyway.  Maybe I'll dig in over break...ha ha nice joke!  We'll see how things go.  I hope I'm up to some but we'll see.

Unexpected day off

Very nice.  My class today was canceled.  Perhaps I'll actually manage to get a little writing done.  I managed to completely go over my whole series of stories, making little changes to the punctuation, etc.  I really want to conclude it within the next 2 weeks.  I don't like that this story has been hanging undone for so long.  I never, ever intended to put out a WIP!

Of course I still have homework to do.  Not that I wouldn't have had it anyway.  Need to take the final for one class that is up and turn in the final assignment.  Then I'm down to 4 classes to deal with.  One other is done save for the final--well 2 but the second one requires LOTS of study for the final.  The other 2 I have some homework left for.  Hopefully I'll get those done today (well for one I have to it is due tomorrow).

I need to work on my middle daughter's room today, too.  She will be home from college in 3 weeks.  We've kind of turned her room into a storage area.  I have less than 2 weeks to get it (and everything else I want done for Christmas) done.

Procrastination

Wondering if I'll ever learn not to procrastinate?  I've been supposed to have been keeping a notebook for transcription all term.  It needs misspelled words, words I had difficulty finding when I transcribed it, etc. in it.  Unfortunately, it is one of those things that has been pushed off.  Now I am scrambling to "create" it.  I think I have about 18 hours left, lol.  Have to finish my review by class tomorrow too.  I can't believe this term is almost over!  The final is a week from this coming Wednesday--should be my last final of the term.

Not to mention I have just 2 weeks to get all my decorating, shopping, etc. done for Christmas. I have 4 days following finals to do it all.  Unless something unexpected happens.  Part of me wants it to but I can't imagine the consequences if the unexpected did happen.  Oh well--back to my notebook.

Lazy day...again.

It was a nice day.  I stayed in, out of the rain, and did things on my computer.  DH had gone a couple hours away to the University where our oldest daughter attends.  It was "Dad's" weekend and the big feature was the football game.  Talked briefly to our middle daughter (also at college--unfortunately it is difficult to visit her university for any kind of parent/family events because it is too far away--24 hours away by car).

I did all the online quizzes that were due tomorrow for business communications as well as the remainder that are due for the term.  It will be nice next Sunday to not have quizzes due.  It is all about Outlook.

Now I need to try to work on disease processes.  I love the topics but don't really like the homework. :P

Writing

I want to write!  I'm so tired of not having time for it.  Unfortunately, when you are in school full-time it leaves very little extra time.  I'm lucky enough not to have to work out of the house.  I simply can't imagine working and going to school at the same time.  I'm busy enough as it is with my studies and my duties as a wife and mother.  That's another thing I can't imagine--going to school (especially full-time) with little kids.  My youngest daughter is a teenager and my older two girls are both in college.

Luckily, vacation is coming.  I hope to get at least a little writing done over my term break.  Unfortunately, I have something big looming for my break that is going to make my life much more difficult temporarily.  I'll probably talk about that in the future.

Oh, and for anyone curious--I write fanfiction about a couple television programs.  I've actually written for three different fandoms.  Two are past shows and one is still airing.  I've started a story for a fourth show but it has a ways to go (it is still on the air, too).  Plus I wrote one drabble (100 words) for a fifth show (it is also a past show).

Lazy day

Today was mostly a lazy day.  I worked on my disease processes homework a little bit--lovely endocrine system, but overall I goofed off.  Now I'm going to go watch Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice. :-)

So....

I'm trying to create a place I can bring the aspects of my life together in one place.  I've been blessed by God in so many ways.I'm a wife, mother, fanfiction writer, and currently also a student.  Hopefully I'll be able to refer people from the various aspects of my life here, rather than many separate places.

Carry on everyone, and have a blessed day. :-)
